Medical problems may cause or contribute to behavior problems. Keep your veterinarian informed regarding your dog's behavior.
Our Certified behavior consultant, Veronica Sanchez M.Ed. CABC, CPDT has a unique combination of hands-on experience addressing behavior problems, industry specific certifications and graduate level education. Veronica remains current in the field and often refers clients to the work of Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist Patricia McConnell PhD, Dr. Myrna Milani DVM, and veterinary behaviorists Dr. Nicholas Dodman and Dr. Karen Overall.
Veronica is a former Vice President of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, and has been a presenter at two IAABC conferences. In addition to her degrees in psychology and education, she has a Certificate in Brain Research in Education from the University of Washington.
Our Comprehensive Approach
Consultations include discussion of your dog's behavioral history direct observation/assessment of your dog's behavior, as well as hands-on practice opportunities. All clients receive a written behavioral plan sent by email after each session.
Because many dogs with behavior problems are anxious, Veronica often emphasizes strategies to reduce the animal's stress level in order to improve your pet's quality of life. She may recommend additional training using reward-based methods, educate owners on dog body language and teach owners non-confrontational ways to establish a healthy, leadership relationship with their pet. Ken Oberle is available to assist in behavior consultations when necessary, and often works with dogs that are fearful or aggressive towards men.
